BWW law firm at the Future Energy Congress
The energy of the future is being created now. Our law firm’s mission is to support the development of industries for which environmental concerns are important. At the conference in Toruń, we showed the broader context of renewable energy development.
Co-founder of BWW, mec. Małgorzata Banasik took part in a discussion devoted to investment processes in renewable energy sources in light of current legal conditions. During the panel, she referred to the biggest challenges in this area, such as the process of connection of sources to the grid by Distribution System Operators (DSOs), direct lines, the need to modernise transmission grids, the role of distributed energy, and energy clusters.
– It is not only about the frequency of refusals, but also, and perhaps even primarily, about the way in which DSOs conduct their connection processes. Individual operators do not apply uniform and transparent procedures when it comes to issuing connection conditions and subsequently concluding agreements for connecting RES installations to the electricity grid, emphasised Małgorzata Banasik, lawyer.
She also explained that, as practice shows, operators give preferential treatment to certain entities by ensuring that applications for the issuance of conditions for the connection of a RES generating source are considered not in the order of receipt, but according to their own discretion, without clear criteria.
Distributed energy was also an interesting strand of the panel discussion.
– We are increasingly recognising the potential of distributed energy, which makes it possible to ensure local energy security while using local resources, including energy resources and renewable energy sources. This makes it possible to support the development of local entrepreneurship and local communities,’ said Ms Banasik, during the Future Energy Congress held in Toruń.
The event, organised by the association ‘Z energią o prawie’, has permanently entered the calendar of energy conferences that cannot be missed. BWW law firm was one of the partners of this year’s congress.
